Tate Modern, London, 9th October 2014
Someone recently asked me where I get my design ideas from. When you design watches - or anything, really - it's inevitable that you end up borrowing a few ideas and mixing them around to come up with something new.
To avoid being too derivative, I do my best not to look at other watch designs. Instead, I look at other art forms and creations. Architecture, boats, planes, automobiles, the human form, that kind of thing. But with the Tate Modern round the corner from our workshops, it's inevitable that sculpture and painting have quite an influence.
The No.16 owes a lot of its look to the sculptures of Constantin Brâncuși,1876 - 1957.
