Watchmaking jumps into the cloud

Hoptroff's TimeKiss technology embraces cloud computing

London, UK. – 2nd November 2011 – London-based manufacturer of watch movements and timekeeping electronics, Hoptroff, today announced that its TimeKiss technology has been extended to allow its watch movements to be customized and configured optically, directly from its web servers, with no external equipment required.

The link works by sending data as a series of light and dark pulses on its web pages to light sensors on the back of the watch, and allows devices to be tailored for each individual user with features such as calendar syncing, time zone selection and automatic daylight saving updates...

UK innovation for ultimate luxury watches

London, UK. – 24th November 2010 – Bespoke electronics from a UK silicon foundry power a movement that allows luxury watchmakers to produce the ultimate in customised timepieces.

The latest innovation from London-based Hoptroff, is 'The Clink' movement, named after the location of the company’s HQ on the South Bank of the Thames near the old Clink prison. Initial samples are crafted from the Swiss-made Ronda 5050B movement in combination with Hoptroff's unique microelectronics.

Hoptroff aims for mass market with The Cardinal

First product from UK watch movement manufacturer

London, UK. – 28th October 2010 – London-based manufacturer of timekeeping electronics for watch makers, Hoptroff, today announced the first addition to the Hoptroff movement collection since the company launched at the Hong Kong Watch and Clock Fair in September.

The Cardinal movement joins the Hoptroff collection as its entry-level foundation targeted at watchmakers looking to produce high volumes of ultra-reliable timepieces with all the flexibility of programmable electronics at their core. The Cardinal is named after the Cardinal’s Hat, a notorious tavern which stood near the site of Hoptroff’s London HQ in Shakespeare’s times.
