London, UK. - 6th September 2010 – Hoptroff, The UK’s newest manufacturer of customised watch movements for luxury watchmakers, launches today. Based in a Thameside wharf in the heart of London, the birthplace of UK watchmaking, Hoptroff uses innovative electronics to develop custom timepieces.
With Hoptroff engineered watch movements, watchmakers can craft entirely new highly-personalised, luxury watch ranges. The company has a decade of research and development expertise, beginning with The Hoptroff Mechanical Clock which featured over 20 complications.
Hoptroff has harnessed the flexibility of electronics to make even the most advanced functions accessible to watchmakers. No other movement manufactures offer watchmakers as wide a range of functions and complications - most only achievable with bespoke electronics - from celestial movements to tidal forecasting and cultural functions such as Mecca angle or Chinese Year, in almost any combination.
Serial entrepreneur and founder, Richard Hoptroff, is vying to take his place alongside the old guard in timepiece construction, having seen international business success with start-ups in wireless communications and microprocessor manufacturing. He sold his first technology company, a state-of-the-art Artificial Intelligence software developer, in a multi-million pound deal with IBM.
