My great aunt gave me a grandfather clock that stands in our meeting room. It hasn't ticked since I needed the lead weight for holding down materials in our CNC mill.
It's a fairly standard mid-1800's movement, nothing special in its design, but something special about its original owner. It belonged to Clocky Ward, one of our ancestors who, my great aunt tells me, looked after the clocks at Windsor Castle during Queen Victoria's reign.
So perhaps watchmaking is in the family.
