Single Dial Atomic Wristwatch
The Hoptroff No.2 is a progression from the Hoptroff No.16, the first atomic timepiece wristwatch ever built. Featuring an Art Deco styling and rugged rectangular case of rhodium bronze, the Hoptroff No.2 displays hours minutes and atomic seconds, and adds an atomic state dial.
The atomic resonator is set to atomic time, but periodically the atomic physics unit will check to ensure that atomic time is properly locked: when this happens an oven will fix the ideal temperature, the internal laser will strike, the microwave resonator will reach oscillation and atomic time will be locked in.
The Hoptroff No.2 displays the state of the atomic physics unit as a traditional horological complication within a separate sub-dial; as each stage of the process occurs the sub-dial indicator will display it. Additionally the wearer may initiate this process manually if they wish by pressing a button on the back of the case; but this is not required to maintain atomic time.
It is the most accurate wristwatch in the world. In full atomic mode, it keeps time to 1 second per thousand years. In atomic resonator mode, it is still accurate to one second per hundred years. Requires an iPhone or Android phone.
