Hoptroff wrapped: 2023 in review

2023 has been an exceptional year for Hoptroff, with major new product launches, significant enhancements to our software, timing hub updates, onboarding new customers, expanding across existing customers’ estates and signing new channel partners - not to mention some important events and press coverage.

As this year draws to a close - and before we launch into 2024 - we wanted to take the time to reflect on some of the most significant achievements of the year.

Events and thought leadership

Hoptroff was proud to be invited to join Grow London, the Mayor of London’s prestigious programme for scale-ups. We’ve leveraged the programme's network and alumni to strengthen our reach globally, with our CEO Tim Richards visiting Toronto and New York as part of a fintech trade mission for the programme. In North America, Tim had the chance to discuss sector innovations and our own Traceable Time as a Service (TTaaS®) technology with major banks, including BMO, Toronto Global, CIBC, TD, Manulife, Sun Life, BNY Mellon, Grasshopper Bank, Wells Fargo, Morgan Stanley, J.P. Morgan, and Mastercard.

Our senior product manager Robert Lindauer was invited to speak at the Open Compute Project Summit. Held in San Jose, the event was attended by over four thousand people from across the open compute community and was a major opportunity for Robert to talk to industry leaders about Traceable Time services for Open TAP systems.

We curated our own successful roundtable event, ‘GNSS The Time is Up’, which focused on Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS). Hosted by Dr Robert Hampshire, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Research and Technology at the US Department of Transportation (DOT), the discussion saw experts from across the industry debate everything from the accuracy of GNSS-based systems to the risks of over-reliance, helping businesses and financial institutions understand how best to counter GNSS vulnerabilities. You can watch the full roundtable here.

Tim appeared as a special guest on the Financial Markets iNSIGHTS podcast, which features global financial industry thought leaders. Helen Disney, entrepreneur and regular commentator on blockchain and cryptocurrency, interviewed Tim as part of a wide-ranging conversation about the bonds between financial institutions and fintech companies, and how innovation can be cultivated through these relationships.

Product and software launches

In product news, our fully upgraded APAC Timing Hub was unveiled in Tokyo - a transformational advance with new equipment and functionality that expands our capabilities and our capacity within the wider Asia-Pacific region. Ian Baldeosingh, VP of Technology at Hoptroff, commented: “[The APAC Timing Hub’s] state-of-the-art equipment and resilient design enable unparalleled precision time synchronisation for businesses of all types.”

We also released brand new features for our Time Suite® Enterprise Client software, a high-performance plug-and-play time sync solution that uses an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) to give users increased visibility and ease of use, alongside a host of new features including comprehensive monitoring, performance control, enhanced reliability, and more.

Meanwhile, we are proud to have passed the recertification process for both ISO 27001 and ISO 9001, which means we are fully ISO-compliant. ISO certification is an extremely rigorous process that is rare for a company of our size and has to be reviewed every three years - so this is an achievement that demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards for our clients, who work in some of the most regulated industries in the world.

New board members and partnerships

Hoptroff was delighted to welcome two new non-executive directors this year. Steve Suarez has impeccable knowledge of the fintech and banking sectors as former Global Head of Innovation at HSBC, while Elaine Bucknor brings more than 25 years of cutting-edge technology and cybersecurity experience, including as the Group Director of Technology Strategic Services and Group Chief Information Security Officer for Sky.

As we continue to grow, we continue to engage new strategic partners, helping to build awareness among our expanding customer base. Our list of partners secured this year includes Temenos Exchange, NayaOne, Telnet, NTT, and Iconic Data Centres. We also launched our first Centre of Excellence Demonstration Hub in London, which allows instant access to over thirty different global carriers. By showcasing our platform to customers across Europe with drastically reduced proof-of-concept lead times, we continue to widen our reach and create new opportunities.

Looking forward to 2024

Hoptroff has come a long way in the last twelve months, and 2024 promises to be an even bigger year for us. Soon, we’ll be sharing more news on our commercial operations, Time Suite® Enterprise Client software advances, network upgrades and industry participation, and we look forward to seeing you in the new year.
