We have partnered with RISE, the Swedish National Metrology Institute for Time

We are delighted to announce that we have partnered with RISE to monitor our timing hubs for traceability to Universal Coordinated Time (UTC).

RISE, the Swedish National Metrology Institute for Time, will supply UTC(SP) to the Hoptroff timing hubs from its national time source based in Sweden. RISE measuring equipment installed at the Hoptroff timing hubs will then constantly monitor the accuracy of the Hoptroff grandmaster clocks using the GPS method, providing independent traceability back to RISE, one of the primary contributors to BIPM UTC.

Since MiFID II came into force in January 2018, the financial community has demanded a precise reading of when a trade and digital transactions are executed, so traceable, accurate, synchronised timing has become crucial. Our market-leading global timing network and AI-powered software solutions distributed globally via our London, New York and Tokyo timing hubs provides organisations with timestamps of trades to within microseconds of the primary reference standard UTC.

Hoptroff TTaaS® means firms can simply cross-connect into the Hoptroff traceable time feed from any point of presence around the world and eliminate the need for capital investment in expensive timing hardware.

About RISE, the Swedish National Metrology Institute for Time

RISE provides several traceable services for time and frequency synchronization to various accuracy levels, by such means as satellite transmission, the internet, telephone modems and the national speaking clock service. The institute performs research and development in areas such as time transmission and time synchronisation, with the help of fibre optics and GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite Systems).

Why did we decide to partner with RISE?

"The RISE-monitored terrestrial contribution of their timing source to our timing network does more than provide us with immunity from the vulnerabilities of space-based systems. It gives us full traceability and an unbroken chain of comparisons of time back to one of the most reliable contributors to Universal Time." says Richard Hoptroff, Founder and CTO of Hoptroff.
