FAQs
-
The Hoptroff Timing Hubs source their time from the major GNSS signals and from leading terrestrial time providers such as NIST in the US and RISE in Sweden.
-
A client connects to the closest Hoptroff Timing Hub which are located throughout the world. The time is delivered to a customer location over secure network connectivity, usually a Layer 3 or Layer 2 connection, depending on the level of accuracy required. In certain cases, a VPN connection is all that is required.
-
We currently have Hoptroff Timing Hubs in London, Tokyo, Sydney, and New York, and will add new locations throughout 2025.
-
Each Hoptroff Timing Hub sources time from three separate satellite constellations. If all of this fails, our resilient terrestrial time feed will continue to deliver time to your network.
-
We can be as resilient as you need us to be, from a single network connection from one of our Hoptroff Timing Hubs, to multiple and independent layer 2 connections from one or even multiple Hoptroff Timing Hubs.
-
We deliver time through an SLA-backed, private network connection.
-
We offer both, depending on the accuracy required.
-
We can achieve 100ns from UTC, measured at the business clock on your server, depending on the plan you choose.
-
Our software measures any network jitter and corrects it, assuring that the time that left the Hoptroff Timing Hubs is still accurate.

Yes, Hoptroff Compliance offers a rich suite of features for third-party regulatory compliance reporting for MiFID II, CAT NMS, DORA and NIS2. It also stores records for 7 years, as required by certain regulations.
-
Yes, our software actively monitors the incoming time feed and will send notifications if it falls outside of the required accuracy threshold. The Hoptroff Time Suite Enterprise includes CLI reporting and, in the premium versions, a comprehensive SPLUNK interface with graphing capabilities and server suite monitoring functionality, enabling you to track your timing across all locations and geographic regions. Our solution uses SQLite (local) & PostgreSQL (remote) as the databases, providing robust data storage and retrieval. Additionally, it can seamlessly integrate with most top third-party management information systems like Nagios.
-
Yes, it is compatible with SMPTE ST2110 and ST2059.
-
We normally offer unicast. In certain cases, we can also deliver time using multicast.
